2018 Hidden Valley Campout and Hike

This year while Camping at the Hidden Valley Scout Reservation.  A large group of Scouts and leaders of Lake Meade Boy Scout Troop 88 hiked the Flat Rock, Tuscarora, and Woodburn trails Trail and are enjoying  the 180-degree spectacular view of Cumberland Valley from an rock outcrop on the Flat Rock Trail overlook.  More pictures can be found in the Troop 88 Photo Gallery.

2018 Battlefield/Indian Rock District Klondike Derby

The scouts of Troop 88 participated in the 2018 Battlefield/Indian Rock District Klondike Derby at Camp Tuckahoe. This year’s theme for the Klondike Derby at Camp Tuckahoe was “Klondike Gold Rush”. We had a great turnout this year, with so many scout participating this year, we split up into two patrols, the Beaver Patrol and the Raptor Patrol. 2016 Battlefield/Indian Rock District Klondike Derby

This year, the scouts of Troop 88 participated in the Battlefield/Indian Rock District Klondike Derby at Camp Tuckahoe.  This year’s theme for the Klondike Derby at Camp Tuckahoe was “Search and Rescue”.  We had a great turnout this year with 23 scouts participate in the Klondike Derby.  With so many scout participating this year, we split up into two patrols, the Ravens Patrol and the Ninja Patrol.  Thought the event, the scouts competed in a variety of challenges and did quite well this…

The Boy Scouts of America annually celebrates its founding on February 8, 1910, based on the program started by Lord Baden Powell in England on August 1, 1907. As the Scout Law says that a “Scout is Reverent” and the Scouts of all ages promise to do their “Duty to God”.  This year the scouts of Troop 88 joined out neighboring Boy Scout Troop 127 and Cub Scout Pack 127 for mass celebrating Scout Sunday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on…

2015 Christmas Caroling at Cumberland Crossings Senior Living

For the second year, a number of Scouts from Boy Scout Troop 88 has visited Cumberland Crossing Senior Living in Carlisle, PA singing Christmas Carols.  The Scouts serenaded the residents of Cumberland Crossings with variety of traditional Christmas carols as they strolled the hallways throughout the facility.  As the Scouts discovered, sometimes it’s the smallest events that inspire the biggest experiences — in the hearts of both the young and the old!

Troop 88 Summer Camp Cardboard Canoe Race

  While attending this years Summer Camp at Camp Tuckahoe, the scouts of Troop 88 of Lake Meade, PA participated in the annual Cardboard Canoe Race and came in first place for their heat and won 3rd place over all.  The scouts built the boat from scratch the evening before the race while at camp.  The criteria for the boat was is must be made only from cardboard and duct tape and carrier two scouts. 2015 Battlefield District Klondike Derby

The theme this year for the 2015 NBOF Battlefield District Klondike Derby was “Yukon Gold Rush.” Activities for this year’s Klondike Derby focused on a patrol-based competition involving Scouting Skills up through First Class. At each station, the Scouts were challenged to complete various activities which demonstrate their Scout and leadership skills, teamwork, and Scout Spirit.  At the end of the day, the finishing touch was an event-wide sled race to the finish line.  Here is a link to watch the…

2014 Troop 88 Summer Camp

This year Troop 88 attended Boy Scout Resident Camp, aka “Summer Camp” at Camp Tuckahoe in Dillsburg, PA. This year we had four of our newer Scouts participate in the Buffalo Braves program, which helps them works on many of the rank requirements from Tenderfoot to First Class.  The rest of our Scouts choose to work on a variety of Merit Badges from Archery to Woodcarving.
